The very harmonious working and personal relationship between Mayor Honey Lacuna and Vice Mayor Yul Servo is apparently working well. So well that their political rivals are now employing desperate moves to break the two apart.
I was informed that a social media post obviously created as a vehicle for black propaganda against the current city administration of Manila is prodding our good Vice Mayor to turn his back on Mayor Honey.
Funnily, the said post accused VM Yul of turning a blind eye on purported wrongdoings of the party to which he and Mayor Honey belong, in order to keep his post.
How stupid can these people get? VM Yul is an elected official of Manila and his concurrent position as Presiding Officer of the 38-member Manila City Council comes with the vice mayoral post.
He does not have to kiss ass or exert effort to be in the graces of anyone because his position is not an appointed official in Manila City Hall. He has a fixed term of three years, no matter what.
Obviously, the rumor-mongers whose preoccupation is to turn Asenso Manileno members against one another, are either too lazy to do some research or are simply dimwits.
VM Yul considers Mayor Honey as an elder sister, since the latter’s father, former Vice Mayor Danny Lacuna, is his mentor. I, on the other hand, is VM Yul’s godfather.
VM Danny and I, being the best buddies, put up the local party Asenso Manileno and during its early years of existence, VM Yul, then a newbie in Manila politics, was already with us, from the time that he was a third district Councilor up to when he made it to Congress and now, as the second highest elected official in Manila.
The relationship of VM Yul with the Lacunas is so depy-rooted that nothing can break him apart from Mayor Honey, moreso nonsensical issues.
The same post also reportedly mentioned that now Citizen Isko is performing the functions of my office as City Administrator. Duh.
In fairness to the former mayor, he is not the type who would disrespect anybody that way, specially me, since his relation with Danny and I are the same as what we have with VM Yul.
Now in fairness to me, let me assure that I am not insane to allow such a kind of setup. In fact, I even extend my working days as City Administrator, going to my office even on weekends just to finish signing voluminous documents.
Sorry to disappoint our detractors but we in Asenso Manileno are solidly behind the leadership in City Hall. Too, the bond between Mayor Honey and Vice Mayor Yul is solid as a rock.
The Asenso Manileno is not just a local party created for political convenience. We are also a family and as such, we make sure that we have one another’s backs.
This is the reason why our party was able to make a clean sweep in the last local elections, from the mayor and vice mayor, down to the six Congressmen and the 36 councilors.
Our political rivals have all the reason to be green with envy, knowing it would be difficult to penetrate the local politics if Asenso Manileno remains solid.
