Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight PR 2230 from Cebu landed at Loakan Airport at 10:28 AM 10 Friday December 16, 2022 with 68 passengers on board according to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) who managed the said airport.
Passengers on board PAL flight PR 2230 were welcomed by executives from the CAAP headed by Director General Capt. Manuel Antonio Tamayo, PAL President and COO Capt. Stanley K. Ng, Palex President Rabbi Vincent Ang, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong and Cebu City Mayor Michael Lopez Rama and DOT Undersecretary Mae Elaine Bathan upon arrival.
CAAP DG Tamayo and Baguio City Mayor Magalong welcome the resumption of commercial flights of PAL at Loakan (Baguio) as PAL launched of Philippine Airlines’ (PAL) Cebu-Baguio-Cebu flights yesterday, 16 December 2022.
“Tourist travel is making a comeback, and Philippine Airlines supports the economic recovery through our brand-new Cebu-Baguio service. We thank all our partners and the travel community for the support in making this momentous event possible,” PAL President and COO Capt. Stanley Ng said.
“We are happy to be serving Baguio and building up our Cebu Network Hub, so we can fly more Cebuanos and Cordillera residents during the holiday season and beyond into 2023,” he added.
PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna said the pioneer PAL service marks the first direct flight from the City of Pines to the Visayas, and also connects travelers from Baguio to cities all over the Philippines via PAL’s route network from its Cebu Hub gateway.
Villaluna said beginning today, December 16, PAL’s four times weekly Cebu-Baguio-Cebu flights have the following schedules: PR 2230 Cebu-Baguio-every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday departing Mactan Cebu at 08:50 AM, arriving at Baguio Loakan Airport at 10:30 AM.
Flight PR 2231 from Baguio-Cebu – every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday departing Baguio at 11:10 AM, arriving in Cebu at 01:00 PM
The Cebu-Baguio service is the latest addition to the flag carrier’s Cebu hub, a network of domestic flights connecting Cebu to various cities in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
These flights are operated with De Havilland Dash 8 Series 400 Next Generation aircraft, a high-performance turboprop offering faster speed and jet-like comfort in a quieter cabin, Villaluna added. (JERRY S. TAN)
