AirAsia Philippines enhances boarding efficiency with reinforced cabin baggage policy

AirAsia Philippines is strongly promoting safe and efficient travel experience for all guests by strictly reinforcing its cabin baggage policy beginning 15 August 2024.

Under the cabin baggage policy, each guest is allowed to only bring a combined total weight of 7 kilograms comprising one cabin baggage and one small personal item onboard. Guests may bring one trolley bag or backpack with a maximum dimension of 56 cm (height) x 36 cm (width) x 23 cm (diameter) and must fit in the overhead storage compartment. They are also allowed to carry one small personal item such as a handbag or laptop bag with a maximum dimension of 40 cm (height) x 30 cm (width) x 10 cm (diameter) and must fit under the seat in front of the guest.

“Our cabin baggage policy is in place to support on-time departures by ensuring a faster and seamless boarding and disembarking process. By adhering to this policy, we help avoid congestion that can negatively impact the guest experience, particularly during boarding and disembarkation. Compliance also ensures fair access to overhead compartments for all guests, maintaining both safety and comfort,” AirAsia Communications and Public Affairs Head & First Officer Steve Dailisan said.

AirAsia also reminds its guests that multiple items strapped, wrapped, or tied together are not counted as one piece. The airline also advises guests that all items purchased at the airport form part of the cabin baggage allowance and only duty-free items packed in a Security Tamper-Evident Bag (STEB), which is sealed (until the guest’s final destination) and accompanied by proof of purchase, are exempt from cabin baggage allowance.

To avoid hassle, AirAsia advises its guests to check-in any cabin baggage exceeding the allowed weight or size limits. AirAsia will also implement strict inspection at the boarding gate which may result in a gate baggage fee.

“Adhering to the cabin baggage policy is crucial to avoid unexpected higher charges at the airport and reduce congestion which affects the guest experience, especially during boarding and disembarkation. Compliance also helps maintain safety and comfort, while promoting consistency and fairness, ensuring a smoother travel experience for all guests”, Dailisan added.
